HC Deb 14 July 1910 vol 19 cc594-5
Mr. LONSDALE (for Mr. Gordon)

asked what was the average attendance for the past year; what was the amount of salaries paid to the teaching staff by the Commissioners of National Education in each of the following schools in the neighbourhood of Cookstown, namely, Drumshambo, Toberlane, Glenarney, Drumnamalta, and Oritor, respectively; and whether the Commissioners have reconsidered their refusal to take Oritor school in connection with the national system?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Commissioners of National Education inform me that the average attendances at the first four schools mentioned in the question were respectively thirty - nine, thirty - three, twenty-seven, and twenty-six, and that the salaries paid to the teachers were £109 15s., £149 5s., £69 15s., and £135 10s. The last-named school is not a national school, and no salaries were paid by the Commissioners to the teachers. At a meeting on the 12th instant the Commissioners decided not to take that school into connection with the Board.
