HC Deb 12 April 1910 vol 16 cc1044-5
Mr. O'GRADY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether his attention had been called to the reply of Mr. T O. Hodges, principal of Kumbakonam (Government) College, to a communication addressed to him by the Madura Teachers' Association, recommending them to mind their own business, and other expressions of an offensive character; and, if so, whether, having regard to the effect of such a reply on the students, representations would be made to the proper authorities to deal with the matter?

Mr. MONTAGU

The Secretary of State has no information on the subject. If the officer in question has been guilty of foolish or improper conduct the Government of Madras will no doubt take suitable notice of the fact.
