HC Deb 07 April 1910 vol 16 cc581-2
Mr. WILLIAM REDMOND

asked what are the amounts in regard to which applications had been received from vendors pending purchase agreements to take their advances partly in stock and partly in money, and altogether in stock, respectively, in pursuance of Section 3 of The Irish Land Act, 1909, and of the Lord Lieutenant's Regulations made under Section 4 of that Act?

r. REDMOND BARRY

Applications have been received from 707 vendors for payment, partly in money and partly in stock, to the amount of £7,326,796, and from 255 vendors for payment, wholly in stock, to the amount of £2,027,608.

Mr. MOORE

Does it amount to this, that of the £64,000,000 of land agreed to be bought under the Land Acts, the last Land Act has only gone to solve the problem to the extent of £8,000,000?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

The answer, of course, refers merely to pending purchase agreements.

Mr. MOORE

Is there not only £8,000,000 out of the £64,000,000?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

I consider the figures very remarkable.

Mr. MOORE

Do the right hon. Gentleman's figures mean that £8,000,000 only of stock is to be taken under this settlement of the land question out of a total of £64,000,000?
