HC Deb 07 April 1910 vol 16 c582
Mr. MULDOON

asked how many evicted tenants applied for reinstatement in the county of Wicklow; how many had been, up to date, passed as qualified and entitled to be reinstated or provided with other holdings by the Estates Commissioners; how many, respectively, had been dealt with in either way; whether he was aware of the local dissatisfaction at the delay that had occurred in a vast number of cases; and would he say what was the cause of such delay, and when might it be expected to come to an end?

Mr. REDMOND BARRY

The Estates Commissioners inform me that applications have 'been received from 159 persons claiming to be evicted tenants or the representatives of evicted tenants in county Wicklow. Of these, sixty-eight have been rejected after inquiry and consideration; twenty-six applicants have been reinstated or provided with other holdings, and twenty-one applicants have been noted for consideration in the allotment of untenanted land. The remaining forty-four applications were received after the date mentioned in the Evicted Tenants Act and cannot be dealt with under that Act. There has been no avoidable delay in dealing with these applications.
