HC Deb 04 April 1910 vol 16 c27
Mr. JAMES HOPE

asked the Prime Minister whether, in the event of the Resolutions on the Relations between the Two Houses being adopted by both Houses during the present Session, he proposes in this or next Session to introduce a Bill dealing with the Constitution of another place?

The PRIME MINISTER

This is a hypothetical question which does not seem to me to call at present for answer. As to the intentions of the Government, I must refer the hon. Member to my speech last Tuesday.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

Do I understand that the Government, in making their proposals, have not contemplated what they are to do in the event of the proposals not being accepted?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir. The hon. Member is not to understand that.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

What am I to understand?

Mr. HARRY LAWSON

As the case is unprecedented will the right hon. Gentleman say by what procedure these Resolutions would be introduced into the House of Lords?

The PRIME MINISTER

The hon. Member must wait and see.
