§ Mr. CLANCYasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether a considerable tract of untenanted land, known as Stillorgan Park, in the Rathdown rural district of the county of Dublin, has been frequently suggested by the local labourers as a fit site for labourers' cottages; whether any effort has been made to carry out this suggestion, and, if not, will he say why this has not been done?
§ Mr. BIRRELLMy attention has been drawn to this matter by the South Dublin Working Men's Association. I understand that the rural district council, having tried without success to get some of this land for labourers' cottages and plots, have decided by resolution that it would be a waste of public money to attempt to acquire any of the land compulsorily for that purpose as most of it is demesne and the rest valuable building land.
