HC Deb 06 September 1909 vol 10 cc892-3
Mr. FELL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer when he will lay before the House the promised revised estimate of the revenue to be received from the amended duties to be levied on spirits under the Finance Bill?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hobhouse)

My right hon. Friend is not aware that he has given any such promise.

Mr. FELL

Is it not within the right hon. Gentleman's recollection that about a fortnight ago the Chancellor of the Exchequer said he would prepare a fresh estimate of the revenue to be derived from the Spirit Duties?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I have consulted the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and he says he has no recollection of any such promise.

Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

Has any such estimate yet been made?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

That is not upon the Paper.
