HC Deb 06 September 1909 vol 10 c901
Mr. PATRICK WHITE (on behalf of Mr. O'Shaughnessy)

asked the Chief Secretary if he could say if any steps had been taken by the Estates Commissioners, and, if so, what was the present stage of negotiations, for the reinstatement of Mrs. Browne, tenant, evicted from glebe lands at Knockaderry, in the county of Limerick, by the Church Temporalities Commissioners; can he say how much have the Church Temporalities Commissioners paid for the herding of her farm since eviction; and how much have they received out of the land in the same period?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners intimated the amount which they would advance for Mrs. Browne's former holding provided she was reinstated and the holding consolidated with her present holding on the adjoining estate. Mrs. Browne has refused to sign the purchase agreement, but is willing that her son should purchase the holding, and a fresh agreement will be prepared for his signature. No useful purpose would be served by giving details of the Commissioners' expenditure in connection with the holding.
