§ Mr. GLADSTONEMy right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. Mr. Thomas resigned the secretary ship a few days ago, but without stating the grounds of his resignation. Mr. F. H. M. Corbet, barrister-at-law, has been appointed secretary by the chairman of the Royal Commission, with whom the appointment rests.
