HC Deb 04 October 1909 vol 11 cc1651-2
Mr. FELL

asked how many persons were engaged in the licensed victuallers' trade according to the latest return; and how this compares with the numbers at the same period in the three preceding years?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The latest information available is that given in the Census Reports for 1901, from which it would appear that the total number of persons engaged in the licensed victualling trade, including eating-houses, was 248,364.

Mr. FELL

There are no particulars which can be given of the unemployed in the licensed victuallers' trade?

Mr. CHURCHILL

There is nothing in the question to suggest that the hon. Member requires any information with regard to the number of unemployed. I have no later return than that I have given.
