§ Mr. SCANLANasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether his attention has been called to a resolution passed by the Committee of Agriculture and Technical Instruction of the county of Sligo protesting against the treatment of Galway University College, the Government grant given to which is considerably less than the grants given to Queen's College, Belfast, and to the University College, Cork, and which grant is disproportionate to the needs of Galway University College; and whether he will use his influence to secure equality of treatment for the University College, Galway, and an immediate supplemental grant to enable the work of that institution to be efficiently carried on and the educational wants of the people of Connaught, which is the poorest province in Ireland, to be adequately supplied?
§ Mr. BIRRELLI have seen the resolution referred to. Although Galway is undoubtedly at a disadvantage in regard to financial provisions, I cannot give an undertaking to re-open the question.
