§ Mr. HART-DAVIESasked the Secretary of State for War whether he vas aware that the pay of the captains and subalterns of the British Army serving in India was about 40 per cent, less than that of their fellow officers serving in the Indian Army; and whether the question of the pay of the lower ranks of commissioned officers was engaging the attention of the Army Council.
§ Mr. ACLANDIt is not at present proposed by the Indian Government to make any change in the relative rates of pay. The answer to the latter part of the question is in the negative.
