HC Deb 04 November 1909 vol 12 cc2005-6
Mr. GEORGE ROBERTS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he will state the number of established postmen's duties in the United Kingdom which have been reduced to unestablished part-time duties since 1st January, 1908; and whether such reductions are contrary to his expressed desire that appointed posts should be made wherever possible?

Mr. BUXTON

I am afraid I cannot give the figures. To ascertain them would involve considerable trouble and expense. I adhere to the view that established posts should be made where practicable. I shall be glad to have inquiry made into any particular case brought to my notice in which it may appear that an unestablished post has been created unnecessarily.
