HC Deb 03 November 1909 vol 12 cc1803-4
Mr. LEVY LEVER

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, having regard to the fact that foreign vessels are continuing to trawl with impunity on the East Coast in territorial waters, he will take immediate steps to prevent them encroaching beyond the international limit, as they are injuring the grounds and causing loss to the local fishermen?

Mr. McKENNA

The East Coast is being regularly patrolled by the fishery cruisers employed in the North Sea, and during the past month one French trawler and three Belgian trawlers have been arrested by the cruisers, and their masters convicted in the Ramsgate and Lowestoft Courts.
