§ Mr. CHARLES DUNCANasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the terms of reference to the Committee of Inquiry considering the Customs and Excise amalgamation will admit of the salary case of the second-class examining officers of Customs being discussed before them; and, if not, will he take steps to have the terms of reference extended in order that this may be done?
§ Mr. HERBERT SAMUELThe terms of reference to the Amalgamation Committee do not preclude discussion of the scale of salaries paid to examining officers, second class, so far as the Committee may deem necessary for the purposes of their inquiry_
