HC Deb 18 May 1909 vol 5 cc215-6
Mr. ESSEX

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can give a more direct telephone service from Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water to Cheltenham by wayleaves on the Banbury and Cheltenham line, or some other route?

Mr. S. BUXTON

The amount of telephone traffic between Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water on the one hand and Cheltenham on the other hand, at present is insufficient to justify the provision of a direct telephone line. Steps are being taken to improve the existing service.

Mr. ESSEX

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider whether the diminution in the use of the telephone is in consequence of the bad service?

Mr. BUXTON

If my hon. Friend will give me any information, I will consider whether the service can be improved.
