Motion made, and Question put, "That in lieu of the stamp ditties now chargeable on contract notes for or relating to the sale or purchase of any stock or marketable security there shall be charged the following stamp duties, that is to say:—

Where the value of the stock or marketable security—

Is £5 and does not exceed £100, sixpence;

Exceeds £100 and does not exceed £500, one shilling;

Exceeds £500 and does not exceed £1,000, two shillings;

And for each additional £1,000 or fraction of £1,000, two shillings."
