§ Mr. LLOYD-GEORGEIncreases of 8d. per lb. or upwards in the duties on un-manufactured tobacco were made on 6th December, 1795, when the duty on Spanish and Portuguese tobacco imported into Great Britain was increased by 1s. 1441 per lb.; on 9th June, 1819, when the duty on British plantation or American tobacco imported into Great Britain was increased by lOd. per lb.; and in June, 1811, when the duty on all tobacco imported into Ireland was increased by 9 13–20d. per lb.
