HC Deb 10 May 1909 vol 4 c1434
Mr. B. S. STRAUS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, seeing that during the year from 1st May, 1908, to 1st May, 1909, only £4,632,600 was written off Two and a half per Cent. Consols, he will favourably consider that in future a larger amount of the Sinking Fund should be used for the purchase of Consols and less for short and other loans?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I will consider my hon. Friend's suggestion.
