HC Deb 04 May 1909 vol 4 cc886-7
Mr. SMEATON

asked the Lord Advocate whether it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to introduce legislation to amend and unify the present system of compiling the register of voters for school board, municipal, and parliamentary representation?

Mr. A. DEWAR

Assuming my hon. Friend to refer to Scotland, I have to remind him that under the Education (Scotland) Act of last Session the school board register was assimilated, after the elections of the current year, to the parish council register, which, within burghs, is based on the municipal register, the foundation of which in turn is the parliamentary register, with certain additions, including qualified women. Further legislation is not in present contemplation.
