HC Deb 03 May 1909 vol 4 cc714-5
Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary of State for War whether anthrax has broken out among the horses of the Royal Artillery at Aldershot; and, if so, whether there is any evidence forthcoming as to the source of the disease; and what steps are being taken to prevent contagion?

Mr. HALDANE

One horse of the Royal Artillery Mounted Band at Alder-shot has died of anthrax. The source of the disease has not been discovered, but inquiry is still proceeding. The usual measures to prevent the disease from spreading have been adopted.

Mr. B. STANIER

Will the right hon. Gentleman supply me with the name of the country from which the food of these horses comes?

Mr. HALDANE

I cannot give that information, but I will try to find out if the hon. Gentleman will put a question down on the Paper.
