HC Deb 03 May 1909 vol 4 cc730-1
Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his proposals for establishing experimental farms, improving live stock, and conducting agricultural research will require legislation affecting the Board of Agriculture; and what sums are allotted during the financial year for each of these new services?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

As I have already explained to the hon. Member for the East Riding of Yorkshire separate legislation will be required in connection with the proposals which I outlined to the House on Thursday last. When such legislation is introduced I shall be glad to give all possible details.

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

Will that be immediately?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

I should hope soon after we get the Resolutions out of the way.

Lord ROBERT CECIL

In any case will it be before the second reading of the Budget Bill?

Mr. LLOYD-GEORGE

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put that question to the Prime Minister. It is a question which deals rather with the business of the House.
