HC Deb 30 March 1909 vol 3 c180
Mr. JENKINS (on behalf of Mr. Havelock Wilson)

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he could state if a new Merchant Shipping Bill had recently been passed in the French Chamber; if so, whether he would obtain a translation of the Act for the use of Members of this House; whether any alterations in the French regulations had been made at the instance of the Board of Trade; and, if so, whether he would have the alterations suggested by the Board of Trade printed in italics?

Mr. TENNANT

A French merchant shipping law was passed in 1907, and I shall be happy to supply my hon. Friend with a translation of it. Negotiations have taken place with regard to the application of this law to British ships, but I am not yet in a position to state the result.
