HC Deb 29 March 1909 vol 3 c5
Mr. WEIR

asked the Lord Advocate if he will take such steps as may be necessary to enable female teachers under the Scotch Education Department who retire from the service on marriage to receive a gratuity in accordance with the practice in the General Post Office?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Ure)

The female teachers in question are in the employment of school boards and other school managers, and not of the Department. The analogy of the General Post Office does not therefore hold good.
