HC Deb 04 March 1909 vol 1 c1581
Mr. BYLES

asked the Prime Minister if he can in any way hasten the consideration of the Houses of Parliament Bill with a view of meeting the claim of the public for re-admission to the public galleries of this House.

The PRIME MINISTER

I am sorry that the Houses of Parliament Bill appears to be regarded by some Members of the Opposition as a controversial measure, and that it has been blocked on every occasion that the second reading has been moved, and I regret that I see no prospect of finding any time for its consideration before 11 o'clock during the present month.

Mr. BYLES

Does the right hon. Gentleman recognise that the outside public and our Constituents have a right to be present?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, Sir, I fully recognise that.
