HC Deb 28 June 1909 vol 7 c25
Mr. LANE-FOX

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how he reckons his estimated reduction of 4d. in the rates under the Finance Bill proposals as a set off to owners of land for the increased burden of taxation put upon them, seeing that the rates are paid by the occupier and not by the owner?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

My right hon. Friend's estimate related to the burden on the land.
