HC Deb 03 June 1909 vol 5 c1482
Mr. HART-DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the case of Major and Mrs. Patten-Bethune, who were, about six months ago, ordered to leave the cantonment of Secunderabad by General Rimington, a proceeding usually applied to disorderly persons, as Major Patten-Bethune had threatened General Riming-ton with legal proceedings for slander; whether this matter had come up before the Army Council; and, if so, what steps it is proposed to take in the matter?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Joseph Pease, for Mr. Haldane)

The matter is at present the subject of communication between the Army Council and the Commander-in-Chief in India.
