Mr. M'ARTHUR

asked the hon. Member for South Somerset, as representing the President of the Board of Agriculture, if he can state what information, if any, the Board have received since February with respect to the continued existence of cattle disease in Argentina; and whether, seeing that the outbreak was confined to one province, he will ascertain what steps have been taken by the Argentine Government to isolate the infected area and prevent the shipment of diseased animals?

We have received no in formation as to the occurrence of any out break of foot and mouth disease in Argentina later than last February. We are in communication with the Argentine Government with a view to obtain information of the nature suggested in the latter part of the question.
