HC Deb 26 July 1909 vol 8 cc835-6
Mr. ASHLEY

inquired how many firms in this country at the present moment possess plant that could turn out gun mountings for first-class battleships; and what are their names?

Mr. McKENNA

Three, namely, Sir W. G. Armstrong and Co., Vickers and Co., and the Coventry Ordnance Works.

Mr. ASHLEY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the last-named firm has now received an order for gun-mountings?

Mr. McKENNA

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will give me notice. I must inquire as to the precise particulars.
