HC Deb 14 July 1909 vol 7 c2028
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if he will ask the Estates Commissioners to instruct their inspectors not to wantonly lay down any line of fence or road so as to mutilate or destroy any rate or other ancient monument, historic or pre-historic, whether registered or not?

Mr. CHERRY

The Estates Commissioners and their inspectors are fully alive to the importance of preserving ancient monuments. The Commissioners do not consider that there is any necessity for the issue of instructions such as are suggested in the question.
