§ The PRIME MINISTERThe maximum number of pensions which may be granted under the Political Offices Pensions Act, 1869, is four in each of the three classes into which these pensions are divided. The pensions now held are two in the first class and three in the second class. There are no pensions in abeyance.
§ Mr. SWIFT MacNEILLDoes the right hon. Gentleman remember that Sir John Gorst, in resigning his pension, said he did so in consideration of honesty and of honour, and has the right hon. Gentleman received any intimation from any other pensioners of their intention of following such an excellent example?
