HC Deb 07 July 1909 vol 7 c1197
Mr. CHARLES MacVEIGH

asked the Chief Secretary whether the Estates Commissioners had completed the purchase from Mr. Known of the lands of Oak Park, near Letterkenny, East Donegal, with a view to providing farms for the evicted tenants, and, if so, would he state the number of applications they had received and the names of the applicants; whether the applicants already noted for consideration would have priority in the allotment of the farms; and whether he could state when they would be put in possession of their holdings?

Mr. BIRRELL

The lands in question are the subject of proceedings under the Evicted Tenants Act. They have not yet been acquired by the Estates Commissioners and no arrangements have been made for their distribution. It would be contrary to the established practice to state the names of the persons who have applied to the Commissioners for allotments.
