HC Deb 07 July 1909 vol 7 cc1197-8
Mr. LUNDON

asked the Chief Secretary if he could state the cause of the delay in the reinstatement of Michael Power, evicted tenant on the Croker property, at Mohane, Herbertstown, county Limerick, whose case had been in the hands of the Estates Commissioners for four or five years, and who had been recommended both by the landlord and agent to the Commissioners for reinstatement; whether the present occupier of the farm stated to Mr. West, Estates Commissioner inspector, last February, that he was prepared to surrender Power's farm provided that he got a farm as good elsewhere; and if it was the intention of the Commissioners to reinstate Power in his former holding?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Estates Commissioners propose to allot Power a farm on certain untenanted land in the district which they hope to acquire at an early date. The present occupier of Power's former holding has stated that he is willing to surrender provided he is given another holding elsewhere, but the Commissioners have decided not to provide him with another holding.
