Thorne)asked the President of the Board of Education if he was aware that, in consequence of the dispute between the Carmarthenshire County Council and the Llanelly Urban District Council, Llanelly children have been away from school for five months; and if he can see his way clear to insist on the children going back to the Old Road School, Llanelly, until the quarrel between the two local authorities has been settled?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANI am not yet in a position to make any statement as to the settlement of this unfortunate dispute. But I do not think I should be justified in directing the Urban District Council for Llanelly to admit children whose parents are resident outside their area unless the Carmarthenshire County Council are willing to make a contribution under Section 52 of the Elementary Education Act, 1870, towards the cost of educating them.
