HC Deb 19 August 1909 vol 9 c1526
Mr. CLELAND

asked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been directed to the defective condition of the water bottles recently issued to the Territorial Forces in respect of their inability to hold water and the defective felt coverings of the same; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to remedy such defects?

Mr. HALDANE

The provision of water bottles rests with the county associations and not with the War Office. On the transfer of equipments from the Volunteers to the Territorial Force, only serviceable water bottles were taken over so far as the War Department was concerned.
