HC Deb 04 August 1909 vol 8 cc1845-6
Sir A. ACLAND-HOOD

May I ask the Prime Minister if, for the convenience of Members, he could tell us what the course of business will be next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would rather defer until to-morrow, as usual, any general statement of business. As far as Monday is concerned, we will take the Finance Bill.

Sir A. ACLAND-HOOD

Considering the somewhat unusual circumstances in which we are sitting now, would the right hon. Gentleman not take into consideration the desirability, for the convenience of Members, of taking as far as possible on Monday business of a non-controversial nature? This would be for the convenience of Members on both sides, who want some fresh air.

The PRIME MINISTER

Does the right hon. Gentleman mean next Monday?

Sir A. ACLAND-HOOD

Yes.

The PRIME MINISTER

I will consider it.

Mr. MACKARNESS

When will the South African Constitution Bill be taken?

The PRIME MINISTER

That depends on how business progresses. It must be disposed of within three weeks, but I am not yet in a position to say when it will be taken.
