HC Deb 03 August 1909 vol 8 c1697
Captain FABER

asked whether the Board of Agriculture is going to take any further steps to suppress the traffic in old horses, either by the appointment of a special inspector or otherwise?

Mr. J. H. WHITLEY

Yes, the Board have appointed a veterinary inspector who will give his whole time to the supervision of this traffic, and who will take such steps as may be necessary to secure the enforcement of our Order by the local authorities concerned.

Captain FABER

Have foreign Governments done anything to avoid this traffic as well as the English?

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Member should give notice of that.

Mr. ARTHUR LEE

Is it proposed only to appoint one, or will there be sub-inspectors working under him?

Mr. WHITLEY

I think one will be sufficient.

Mr. ARTHUR LEE

For all the ports?
