HC Deb 01 April 1909 vol 3 c489
Mr. RAMSAY MACDONALD

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to a sentence of a month's hard labour passed by two Portsmouth magistrates upon three girls of 17, 18, and 21 years of age respectively, for a petty theft; whether the girls were first offenders; and whether he can see his way to interfere?

Mr. GLADSTONE

I am making inquiry into these cases, but have not yet heard the result. When I do, I will communicate further with the hon. Member.
