HC Deb 01 April 1909 vol 3 c469
Mr. BUTCHER

asked the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he was aware that the Royal Irish Constabulary authorities have in certain instances issued warnings to holders of combined grocers and spirit licenses that they would oppose the renewal of such licenses in cases where the holders had refused to supply boycotted persons with goods; and whether this practice was to be adopted generally where boycotting prevails?

The CHIEF SECRETARY for IRELAND (Mr. Birrell)

The practice to which the hon. Member refers has been followed for many years. It is usually adopted in all cases that come under the notice of the police.
