HC Deb 30 October 1908 vol 195 cc636-7
MR. BOLAND (Kerry, S.)

To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that seven tenants on the property of D. C. O'Connell, in the townland of Coomavoher, parish of Dromod, county Kerry, have been processed and decreed for rent; and whether, in view of the negotiations which had previously taken place for the purchase of this property, the Estates Commissioners will make special inquiry into the circumstances of this case in order to bring about a settlement.

(Answered by Mr. Birrell.) The Estates Commissioners have no knowledge of any proceedings taken by the landlord for rent, but they understand that certain of the tenants have not signed purchase agreements, as they cannot come to terms with the landlord. The Commissioners have no power to compel the landlord to sell, and they cannot undertake to have any inquiry made at present.
