HC Deb 27 October 1908 vol 195 cc62-3
MR. O'GRADY (Leeds, E.)

. I beg to ask the Under-Secretary of State for India whether he is aware that a pleader named Ram Kanai Dutt, of Brahamanbaria, and his son have been arrested upon a charge of sedition for having written and printed a booklet entitled "Seintan Sikha"; and whether, in view of the fact that the booklet was written two years ago and has been in public use as a text-book in the lower classes of many national schools, he will order an inquiry into the matter, and, if the facts are as stated, make a request to the Government of India for the release of this man and his son.

MR. BUCHANAN

The Secretary of State has no information on the subject, but he will inquire.
