HC Deb 26 October 1908 vol 194 c1627
CAPTAIN CRAIG

I beg to ask the Prime Minister if he can inform the House what provision it is the intention of the Government to make for meeting the distress at present existing in Ireland owing to want of employment; and will a proportion of the Admiralty's shipbuilding and repairs programme be allocated to Belfast and Derry shipyards.

MR. ASQUITH

I am afraid that I can add nothing at the moment to the statement that I made last Wednesday. The Admiralty carry out all their repair work in the Royal Dockyards. With regard to the ships to be built by contract this year, Messrs. Harland and Wolff, of Belfast, have been invited to tender for one of the new cruisers.
