HC Deb 15 October 1908 vol 194 cc475-6
MR. CLAUDE HAY (Shoreditch, Hoxton)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will ascertain and communicate to the House of Commons the nature of the steps taken by the heads of the various Departments of the Royal Household through which warrants are granted to insure observance of the particulars clause and other provisions of the Factory and Health Laws.

THE UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL,) Yorkshire, Cleveland

As my right hon. friend pointed out to the hon. Member on 9th July, firms holding Royal Warrants are subject to the same regulations and inspection as other firms. The due observance of the provisions of the Factory Acts is a matter for the Home Office, and not for the Departments of the Royal Household.
