To ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether he will state, for each of the financial years 1894–5, 1905–6, 1906–7, and 1907–8, the total amount actually paid in respect of lighthouse dues to the Board of Trade and expended by them through the Trinity Board on lighthouses, buoys, and beacons; and can he say in what part of the accounts of the national expenditure this information can be found.

(Answered by Mr. Churchill.) The following are the figures asked for by the hon. Member:—Light dues collected: 1894–5, £539,037; 1905–6, £500,996; 1906–7, £536,834; 1907–8, £513,422. Expenditure by Trinity House: 1894–5, £233,561; 1905–6, £239,311; 1906–7, £258,753; 1907–8, £251,328. The information is published for the year 1894–5 in the accounts of the Mercantile Marine Fund, which appear in the appropriation accounts for that year, and in the other years in the accounts of the General Lighthouse Fund, which are presented to Parliament annually.
