HC Deb 10 November 1908 vol 196 c35
MR. KEIR HARDIE

TO ask the Secretary of State for War whether he has received an application from A. A. Reynolds, of Lucknow, India, for the King's South Africa medal; whether he is aware that the applicant has very high testimonials from the Army officials under whom he served; and whether, under these circumstances, he will grant the medal as desired.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) The War Office has received an application from this man. As he left Bethune's Mounted Infantry on 15th November, 1900, and became a civilian clerk in the Army Service Corps, he was ineligible for the decoration granted to soldiers under Army Order 232 of 1902. The testimonials, which are accurately described as high, do not in any way render him eligible for the medal.
