HC Deb 10 November 1908 vol 196 c40
SIR GILBERT PARKER

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if the Belgian Government have given satisfactory guarantees that the obstacles placed by the late administration of the Congo in the way of British missions obtaining sites for the prosecution of missionary effort in the Congo territory will be removed.

SIR EDWARD GREY

The question of sites in the Congo for the prosecution of missionary effort has not been lost sight of, but negotiations in regard to it have had to be suspended pending the transference of the Congo State to Belgium. It will form one of the first subjects to which the attention of the Belgian Government will be drawn.
