MR. C. MACVEIGHI beg to ask Mr. Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Inland Revenue surveyors demand income-tax on the estimated profits of a firm established in Ceylon, and entirely directed, controlled, and managed by the partners residing there; whether the profits are liable to income-tax owing to the senior partner residing here but taking no part in the management of the firm in Ceylon, any money received by him having already paid income-tax in the Colony; and, if not, whether he will take immediate steps to end all such demands.
