HC Deb 06 November 1908 vol 195 c1547
MR. MUNRO FERGUSON

To ask the Secretary for Scotland whether there is any sufficient staff at the Scottish Local Government Board to deal seriously with the inception, or application, of large projects affecting Scottish local administration, such as the Housing and Town Planning Bill; and whether he will now consider the propriety of holding a departmental inquiry into the staffing and working of the Local Government and other Scottish Boards.

(Answered by Mr. Sinclair.) Existing staff is fully occupied, but provision for administration of Housing Bill and any other measures will be made if necessary by extension of staff or otherwise, as may be arranged by the Treasury. I have no intention of appointing a Departmental Committee to hold an inquiry in the sense proposed by my hon. friend.
