HC Deb 05 November 1908 vol 195 c1371
MR. HUNT

To ask the Secretary of State for War whether experiments have been tried as to the serious wounds caused by the new pointed bullet adopted by some other countries; and whether it is found that these bullets not only have a greater smashing effect, but also that on strikin, the base of the bullet turns upwards and inflicts a very much more serious wound than the ordinary bullet now used in the government rifle.

(Answered by Mr. Secretary Haldane.) Experiments with various bullets have from time to time been carried out to ascertain the nature of wounds caused at various velocities and ranges. I think it wiser not to publish at present any of the information obtained.
