HC Deb 02 November 1908 vol 195 cc757-8
MR. DU CROS (Hastings)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the fact that in the British Navy only one gun is held in reserve for every four guns afloat while in other navies two guns are held in reserve for every four afloat, the Government will take steps to give us a reserve of guns equal to that of other countries.

MR. MCKENNA

It is not considered desirable in the public interest to make any statement regarding the reserves of naval guns.

MR. DU CROS

Does the right hon. Gentleman question the accuracy of the statements?

MR. MCKENNA

I neither question nor admit their accuracy. I must decline to make any statement.
